African American Heritage Prayer Service

2017 African American Heritage Prayer Service

40th Annual Archdiocesan African American Heritage Prayer Service

This service is an annual event to celebrate the culture, history, and heritage of African-Americans in our Catholic schools, parishes and throughout the Archdiocese. The service includes prayers and songs, and is attended by hundreds of students, teachers, and supporters. During the service, three outstanding individuals will be presented with the African-American Heritage Award: Most Revered Joseph Perry, Auxiliary Bishop of Vicariate VI; Reverend David Jones, director of the Black Catholic Initiative and pastor of St. Benedict The African Church; and Peyton Ashford, a senior student at Marist High School.
