Prevent the flu

Get vaccinated as soon as possible!

December through March is considered the peak season for flu. With COVID-19 continuing to spread through our community, the flu vaccine is more important than ever.  Influenza, commonly called “the flu,” may cause symptoms very similar to those of COVID-19.

The flu and COVID-19 require separate vaccines, and it is safe to receive them at the same time. The COVID vaccine does not protect you from the flu, nor does it interfere with the other vaccine. Your health care provider or local pharmacy can provide both vaccines in one visit.

Everyone six months of age and older should get a flu vaccine.

Flu vaccine is provided at many local health departments, private health care providers, and pharmacies across Illinois. Contact your health care provider to find out which flu vaccine is right for you.
