Tax Credit Scholarships

Invest in Catholic Schools – Fund a Child’s Future

The Invest in Kids Act’s Tax Credit Scholarship Program provides strong incentives for donors to support Illinois children from low-income homes and guarantees a high-quality education at a Catholic school of their choice. Students may use these scholarships to attend a non-public school of their choice, including the 157 archdiocesan schools in Cook County and Lake County.

DONORS

Double Your Impact

Several donors have agreed to pool their resources and will match a donation to more than 150 Archdiocese of Chicago schools. That means every dollar designated to a qualifying school through our partnering scholarship granting organization, Empower Illinois, on or after Dec. 1, 2022, will be matched. Donations are capped at $75,000 per school and other limitations apply.

The program ends when matching funds have been depleted or on March 31, 2023, whichever comes first. Donors who would like to receive the tax credit for their 2022 taxes should begin the process prior to Dec. 15, to ensure that they have enough time to make their gift by the end of the year.

Your donation reduces what you owe to the state at tax time or could increase your state tax refund, all while funding a quality Catholic education for a child and supporting our Catholic schools!

More than 11,000 students have received scholarships since the program started in 2017. However, another 4,000 students remain on the wait list for a scholarship.
