Chicago, IL (January 19, 2017) – Cardinal Blase J. Cupich will host the third annual Celebrating Catholic Education Breakfast on Tuesday, January 24. Jo Ann Rooney, Ph.D., recently appointed President of Loyola University Chicago, will deliver the keynote address. Cardinal Cupich and Jim Rigg, Ph.D., Superintendent of the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic schools, will both deliver remarks.

 

The breakfast will begin at 8 a.m., and will be held at the Palmer House Hilton, 17 East Monroe Street in Chicago. Alan Krashesky, ABC-7 Chicago news anchor and reporter, will emcee the event.

 

“We are incredibly proud of our Archdiocesan Catholic school system and the national recognition it has received,” said Cardinal Blase J. Cupich. ”Our goal for the fundraising breakfast is to help ensure that vibrant, high quality Catholic schools are available, accessible and affordable for all children in Cook and Lake Counties.”

 

The Celebrating Catholic Education Breakfast benefits the Caritas Scholars Program and funds programs for schools and teachers through the Archdiocese’s Office of Catholic Schools. Event attendees will include Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, who spent 10 years teaching in Chicago’s Catholic school system. In previous years, the breakfast has raised more than $225,000 annually for scholarships, as well as awareness of the importance of Catholic education.

 

“This event is a great opportunity to celebrate the many wonderful things happening in our Catholic schools,” said Dr. Jim Rigg. “Our schools have graduated thousands of students through the generations, and these individuals can be found in positions of leadership and influence throughout the world. We have many reasons to be proud.”

 

Tickets are $150 each or $1,500 for a table of 10. Sponsorship opportunities are still available at all levels.
