| I am both honored and humbled by Cardinal George’s confidence in appointing me as superintendent of Catholic schools. I am excited to soon be working with him and the Archdiocesan leadership team as well as our pastors, principals, teachers, staff and parents in providing leadership to the elementary and high schools of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
I am grateful to my predecessors and to all who have made Catholic schools in Cook and Lake counties examples of academic excellence in faith-based education.
Our Catholic schools have a strong and vibrant tradition and there is a profound need for them in our society. Using the recommendations outlined in the strategic Genesis school plan, we intend to move forward, enlisting the talents of all committed to the vibrancy of our schools in this Archdiocese. With work and grace, I believe in a strong future for the almost 100,000 students and more than 7,000 teachers and staff in 217 elementary and 39 high schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago.
I also want to express my gratitude to the Marian Catholic High School community for their love and support during my tenure as both principal and president and to my religious order, the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, for their encouragement and blessing on my new ministry. |
