CATHOLIC SCHOOLS OPPOSING RACISM CONDUCT CONCERT
PRESENT FIRST COURAGE AND SOLIDARITY AWARD

CHICAGO (January 10, 2006) Catholic Schools Opposing Racism (COR) will conduct its sixth annual concert, “Songs and Prayers of the Journey,” and will present its first Courage and Solidarity Award at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, at Old St. Patrick’s Church, 700 W. Adams St., Chicago.

The concert will feature the voices of representative high school and elementary school students from throughout the Archdiocese of Chicago. Each school has chosen a song to represent its hopes for harmony.

At the same time, Ailia Ali, a senior at Mount Assisi Academy, Lemont, will be presented with the first COR Courage and Solidarity Award. She is being recognized for her effort to deepen cultural and religious understanding and for advancing the dialogue around racial and religious tolerance.

COR is sponsored by Queen of Peace High School, Burbank, a Sinsinawa Dominican-sponsored School for young women; the Sinsinawa Dominicans; Angel Studio, a communications ministry of the Chicago Province of the Society of the Divine Word; and Augustine Stewardship Fund Trust of St. Norbert Abbey.
