WHAT: Members
of Catholic Schools Opposing Racism (COR) will perform an original
play that explores race and racism from high school students' perspective.
Students bring to life a series of stories based on students' personal
experiences with race and racism.
These stories
were scripted into an original play entitled Turning CORners by
Megan Carney, artistic director at Chicago's About Face Youth Theatre.
Carney will direct the student production, and will be assisted
by associate directors Zahra Baker and Amy Beck.
COR brings
together high school students from across the Archdiocese of Chicago
to focus on racial harmony. It was founded by Queen of Peace High
School in 1997 and includes members from the 43 high schools of
the Archdiocese of Chicago.
