    St. Patricia's Own Marathon Runner!

    Fourth and fifth graders congratulate and celebrate their teacher Tracey Rewers who completed the Chicago Marathon for the third time. An avid runner, Rewers has also completed eight half marathons. Students thank Rewers for inspiring them as they get ready for their Monster Dash run on Oct. 26.

    Chicago Transitional Deacon Ordained in Rome.

    On Sept. 29, 30 seminarians from the Pontifical North American College in Rome were ordained as Transitional Deacons at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. One of these seminarians, Timothy Anastos, represented the Archdiocese of Chicago. Archbishop Cupich and Auxiliary Bishop George Rassas attended the ordination and reception for Tim that night. Tim will be ordained a Priest in May at Holy Name Cathedral. The photos show Timothy being ordained at St. Peter's Basilica.

    Caring Hearts' Students Bring Smiles

    Students in St. George School in Tinley Park's Caring Hearts Club recently decorated Halloween papers for residents in two nursing homes. These students voluntarily stay after school to work on whatever project comes their way.

    St. George School Caring Hearts Club

    St. George School's held its first Caring Hearts meeting of the year. Students in grades K through 8 worked on decorating U.S.P.O. boxes which will be filled with supplies and shipped out to our soldiers in Afghanistan to help brighten the day of many of our soldiers. Lots of energy and enthusiasm, prayers and uplifting thoughts from these 73 giving and loving children.

    On Oct. 6, Bishop Joseph Perry of the Archdiocese of Chicago offered a simple blessing to learners and tutors at Aquinas Literacy Center (ALC) in honor of its 20th anniversary.

    St. George School Walk-a-thon

    St. George School in Tinley Park recently held its annual Walk-a-thon, with proceeds going towards additional technology for our children. Students in grades pre-school through eight decorated wagons which they proudly paraded a few blocks around our school. A surprise visit of Mr. Chili Pepper from our local Chili's restaurant added to the excitement of the morning.

    Marist Brother celebrates diamond jubilee, eightieth birthday at school Mass

    Br. Brendan Brennan, fms, renewed his vows in front of Marist High School's student body during the Mass of the Holy Spirit on Sept. 12, marking his sixtieth year as a Marist Brother. The day also happened to be his eightieth birthday.

    Mother McAuley 60th Anniversary Mass with Archbishop Blase Cupich

    Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School commemorated its 60th Anniversary on Sept. 1 with a special liturgy celebrated by Most Reverend Archbishop Blase J. Cupich. Students, faculty, staff, alumnae, Sisters of Mercy and honored guests gathered in the school gymnasium to share in the observance of the school’s history and heritage.
